Products

There are more than 20 hearing aid manufacturers selling their products in the United States. At The Hearing Place, we are knowledgeable about all the different brands and carry a large variety of styles. How do we decide which style is for you? We talk to you and assess your hearing loss, and then we evaluate what is the best value for you, considering multiple price points and styles.

First of all, hearing aids are available in analog or digital models. Analog hearing aids have been on the market for years. These are less expensive than digital hearing aids but are short on features and overall sound quality. Digital hearing aids produce a cleaner sound quality than analog models and can be programmed by computer to achieve a high level of adjustment.

In addition to choosing the model, a new hearing aid wearer must also select how they want to wear them. The closer to the eardrum, the better the sound will be.

Here are 5 types of hearing aids:

BTE: Behind the Ear -- This type fits over the ear and rests behind it.
ITE: In the Ear -- This is the most common type, which sits in the ear.
ITC: In the Ear Canal --This type fits slightly lower into the ear and is hardly noticeable.
CIC - This style nestles completely in the ear canal and is the least visible to others. It also requires the most fitting.
OPEN FIT- - A smaller version or the BTE with a tube and small dome that fits in the ear.
